Version 2 - This is new:
- An even better quality of the nest, with an even better pass accuracy
- Due to the larger hose connection modules we are now also able to make special designs
- Further modules under: SimAnts Pro Nest -> Pro S Nest Accessories
- Nest shell and base are now also available in the color light brown
- You can now freely select which modules you want to use in your nest
This table shows an overview of the size of the nests.
Three sizes play a role. The width of the passages or chamber openings,
The size of the nesting chambers, as well as the chamber height.
Typ | ducts | Chamber | chamber height |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 4-8mm | 10-39mm | 19mm |
2 | 7-12mm | 10-41mm | 19mm |
3 | 4-8mm | 10-43mm | 19mm |
4 | 4-6mm | 10-20mm | 19mm |
5 | 8-15mm | 30-60mm | 19mm |
6 | 10-12mm | 40-50mm | 19mm |
Expandable - Know the problem, you have a new ant colony and not the right nest!
With these nests such problems will be a thing of the past. Our nests can be connected to one another and thus there is no longer any obstacle to an enlargement at a later time. If you start small, you should remember that your proteges need more space, you can simply connect a second or third nest to one of the openings, thus expanding the nest.
For this purpose, simply cut a suitable piece of tubing about 12-14mm in length and use this as an intermediate piece for connecting the nests.
Humidification system - In order to ensure constant and simple humidification, we have constructed a water reservoir (free space) underneath the nest. This is to help you transport the much needed moisture to the nestinnere. In this case, a carrier material is filled into the basin, which then later stores the water and transports it into the nest interior. Here you can freely decide whether you want to use cotton, earth, ytong, pearlite, sand or other materials as carrier material. In order to be able to moisten the nest later on, small openings were made on two sides of the nest, and the carrier material can be moistened further. To prevent an outbreak of the ants over the carrier material, the openings in the nest were sealed with gauze. The gauze has a 0.2mm mesh width to prevent even the smallest ants from breaking out. | ![]() |
Possibilities - A very useful combination we see here. 2x "SimAnts Pro Nester" coupled with a piece of hose (12-14mm). Both nests are painted with a mixture of clay and sand. Then let it dry and then remove the excess. It is a great way to make the nest-inner extremely conductive for moisture. Particularly suitable for ants which may be very moist. By coupling two nests one can thus create a very damp area and a less humid area by simply filling the lower chamber of the left nest with water. This can also be done with only one nest. However, one should be very cautious with the water addition. Already a little too much and the whole lined nestinnere draws itself completely with water. Therefore you should fill more slowly with water and decide how much moisture you want in the nest. Conclusion: One can determine the climate and the conditions in the "SimAnts Pro Nest" itself and offer its shelter a correspondingly appropriate nest. |

Mold - mold is a great enemy of ants. Unfortunately, it is impossible to avoid the formation of mold, but you can prevent the danger of molds, and this is where we begin. By regular cleaning of the water container and its substrate the formation of mold can be reduced. To enable this, you can lift the nest from the base and have full access to the water container and the substrate. The substrate should then be renewed at regular intervals. |
Heating - Many species of ants require a higher nesting temperature. To enable this, we have developed a special heating cable support module. This module is a device in which a heating cable can be attached to deliver the heat to the nest. Here you have the possibility to attach the heating cable to two different heights. You can also use a heating cable in both positions to achieve a higher heating performance. It is important to note that the nest itself can not regulate the heat output. Consider how and with what kind of power (watts) you want to heat the nest. If the nest overheats, this can lead to the death of the ant colony. The nest could be damaged or even burn in the worst case. Always follow the manuals and SAFETY data sheets of the heating manufacturer. Attention: The heating cable holder module is not included in the standard scope of delivery; the heating cable must also be ordered separately. |

Cover - Ants love it dark. To meet these requirements, we have developed a cover that protects your protectors from light and thus simulates the dark in the ground even better. As a small extra we also offer a red PVC foil for our nests. This is custom-made and allows a more gentle view of the nest when you lift the cover. Please note that this film does not replace the cover. |
